Christmas Blessings – Northland Stitchers

Sewing, Knitting/Crocheting, & Quilting to Help Others
Big and Small ~ Every Day ~ All Year Long

For 17 years, since 2002, a group known as the NORTHLAND STITCHERS has made needed items for individuals and agencies throughout our community. They sew, knit/crochet, and/or quilt the needed items, making most items with donated materials. There is never a charge for their skilled work, just genuine appreciation, and gratitude!

The NORTHLAND STITCHERS have made items for the Northland Shepherd’s Center since 2005! This year, they made 108 beautiful and colorful Christmas Stockings. NSC gave the stockings to Meals on Wheels Clients and others.

The group meets monthly to discuss the requests that they have received; after determining what they can do, they sew, knit/crochet, or quilt in their own homes. Among the items they make are:

Christmas Stockings
Clothing Protectors
Masks (COVID)
Hats (oncology, winter)
Lap Robes
Pillows
Pillow Cases
Scarves
Walker Bags
Children’s Blankets
Children’s Drainage Bag Covers
Children’s Mittens & Scarves
Children’s Pillows with Animals
Children’s T-Shirts
Infants Blankets & Squares

In 2020, the NORTHLAND STITCHERS made 1290 items for  Baby Grace, Children’s Mercy Hospital , CHM Urgent Care, Clay County Clothes Closet, Crossroads Hospital, Grand Avenue Temple, KC Rescue Mission, KU Cancer Center, Life Unlimited, Immaculata, North Kansas City Hospital, Northland Assistance Center, Rachael House, St. James Lutheran Synergy Youth Services, and Turning Point.

The group meets the 2nd Tuesday of the month in a convenient NKC location.
