Christmas Blessings -The Four Cardinal Virtues

The holiday season is a time when we find ourselves gathering around the table to enjoy a meal with friends and family however, for some that can be a struggle. It warms our hearts to know that because of groups like the Kansas City Northland Elks Lodge #2376, the 2021 Thanksgiving was something to remember.

The Elks approached Northland Shepherd’s Center as one of their chosen community organizations and wanted to provide 30 Thanksgiving meal baskets to older adults in need. We quickly accepted this generous offer and got busy on brainstorming who in our list of clients we would reach out to. We talked about those we knew who could cook the meal and had the greatest need. Our trusty staff got on the phones and started making phone calls until we fulfilled the magic number.

What the Elks weren’t expecting was the outpour of appreciation from our clients who dropped off Thank You notes as they picked up their baskets full of goodies. Those notes were proudly displayed on the walls at the Lodge for all their members to see.

A few weeks later the Elks came back to us and had even more gifts to give just in time for clients to do some Christmas baking. The Lodge donated gift cards along with many items to stock client’s pantries with things like oil, flour and sugar, coffee and tea, oatmeal, pancake mix, and more!
