The Northland Shepherd’s Center provides a variety of resources and classes to caregivers and their loved ones.
Breaktime Club is a caregiver respite program that allows caregivers the opportunity to leave their loved ones in a safe place with qualified, caring staff and volunteers for a few hours. Breaktime Club includes fun activities such as arts and crafts, gentle exercise, live music, and a nutritious meal.
*Breaktime Club-Northland Shepherd’s Center (NSC) meets Tuesdays from 9:00-2:00.
*Breaktime Club-Platte meets at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church (5409 NW 72nd St., Kansas City, MO 64151) and is held the second and fourth Thursdays of each month from 9:00-2:00.
Caring Café meets the third Wednesday every other month from 1:00-2:30 at NSC and provides an educational/informational program to support caregivers and loved ones in their caregiving journey.
The Caregiver-Directed Respite Program (CDRP) supports primary caregivers in finding their own respite care worker, as well as being responsible for hiring, firing, payroll taxes, and all aspects of being an employer. The caregiver will be reimbursed for up to 6 hours of weekly respite care if enrolled. Call for qualification information.
Caring Connections Caregiver Support Group meets the first and third Thursday of each month (except holidays) from 10:00-11:30 at NSC.
